The Department of Defence is seeking high performing and experienced leaders for a range of EL1 roles within the Defence People Group. The Defence People Group delivers high quality people related outcomes across the Defence employment cycle from strategy and policy development, through to implementation and service delivery. We put people first and deliver on our commitments. As an EL1 HR Manager, you will lead a team dedicated to building the capability of the Defence organisation. You will exemplify the One Defence leadership behaviours (included at the end of this information pack) and a customer commitment. You will drive positive behaviour and performance in your team and will be familiar with and remain cognisant of the relevant legislation and whole of Government policy frameworks that shape Defence’s people policies and strategies.

To be a strong contender you will need to demonstrate that you have an understanding of contemporary HR strategies and initiatives and have experience driving innovation and influencing business reform. You will be a strategic thinker with an understanding of the Defence mission and will have experience building and leading teams. You will be an influential communicator, resilient, have sound judgement and a proven track record in collaborating to achieve quality outcomes.

This recruitment round will be used to fill a variety of existing EL1 HR roles in areas such as payroll, workplace relations, HR policy development, workforce planning, learning and development, culture, HR Business Partnering and Recruitment. The round may also be used to fill vacancies that arise over the next 12 months.
