About the Role

Reporting to the Head of People and Culture Operations, Overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of the Operations and Payroll teams ensuring a seamless exceptional service provided to this leading financial services business. You will manage a team of 3 payroll officers and also the Team Leader for Operations with two indirect reports in the Ops team.
Responsibilities include:
  • Providing day to day supervision, guidance and allocate work flow for the Operations and Payroll teams as required
  • Overseeing the P&C Service Desk to ensure service levels and customer feedback within agreed measures and addressed in a timely manner, ensuring quality standards and employee satisfaction of all HR services
  • Managing integrations or systems issues
  • Working closely with and leading the team and partnering with the business to identify and contribute to the continuous improvement
  • Responding to queries and requests from internal stakeholders in a timely and in a customer focused manner
  • Prepare reports for management as required
  • Ensuring confidentiality of employee records is maintained
  • Actively building and promoting a team culture of compliance and risk management awareness and appreciation
  • Reporting on all key compliance and risk issues
  • Keeping up to date on all key changes to compliance regulations and risk management policy
  • Ensure the Payroll system is properly maintained to ensure data integrity and records are maintained to meet employee, organisational and statutory requirements and entitlements.
  • Timely issue of salaries, payments and payment summaries within allocated timeframes
  • Compliance with all legislative and financial obligations including group tax, payroll tax, workers compensation insurance, superannuation, child support and any other deductions
  • Ensure that the payroll services are delivered consistently through the development and maintenance of the system, procedures, fact sheets and process checklists in line with recommendations, internal controls, legislation and audit requirements.

About You

As the successful candidate, you are a strong team leader with outstanding stakeholder management and influencing skills and an eye for detail. You have a strong understanding of processes, systems and technologies that support HR to ensure you are delivering a phenomenal service to your customer base. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR/business and have a minimum of 5 years' experience within a similar environment. 
  • Experience managing a payroll and operations team
  • Experience running payroll
  • Experience in managing process improvement
  • Experience using Workday and Meridian
  • Exceptional organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal
  • Proven track record of building trusted relationships with demanding business partners
  • Proven track record of managing and working effectively in a team environment
  • Deep knowledge of contemporary HR strategies, policies, processes and procedures
  • Experience in the financial services industry highly regarded
