Jones Day is seeking a Recruitment Specialist to support the Australian offices of Jones Day. This is a full-time role based in the Sydney office.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in the professional services industry with a leading global law firm whilst being supported by the local management team.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, Australia, you will assume responsibility for all aspects of lawyer, support staff and temporary hiring. This role will also assume responsibility for the Graduate, Summer Clerk and Paralegal programs across the Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne offices. The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of five years’ experience in recruitment with two years working within a legal recruiting environment.

The duties of this role will include:

  • Manage end to end recruitment of lawyer and support staff hires including sourcing, screening, coordinating interview times, attending interviews, completing reference checks and writing reference reports.
  • Work with Jones Day leadership, including Practice Group Leaders, Office Partners-in-Charge and support service managers to identify hiring needs and advance recruiting objectives in a strategic manner.
  • Liaise with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that approvals are in place for support hires (Firm heads of administration) and lateral hires (Practice Leaders).
  • Attend interviews and maintain candidate feedback and ratings.
  • Manage and coordinate the Graduate, Summer Clerk and Paralegal programs across the Australian offices.
  • Attend career fairs and on campus events.
  • Draft and post job advertisements to aid in the recruiting process.
  • Maintain relationships with preferred search firms.
  • Work with agencies to promote the profile and opportunities of Jones Day amongst top talent.
  • Coordinate agreed terms with agencies.
  • Prepare and maintain an annual recruiting budget.
  • Assist with general HR projects and administration as required.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Are client-service oriented, able to work with lawyers and staff at all levels and establish effective working relationships throughout the Firm.
  • Have a demonstrated knowledge of the legal industry and related recruitment trends.
  • Highly motivated, creative, flexible and results-oriented with the ability to prioritise appropriately.
  • Have the ability to accurately assess recruitment needs and select the most qualified candidates based on that assessment.
  • Have the ability to prioritise and manage projects, work in high-pressure situations, and meet deadlines amongst a fast-paced environment.
  • Display good public relations skills and the ability to represent the firm in a professional manner.
  • Prepared to travel as required to the other Australian offices.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Related bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in recruiting with at least 2 years working in a legal recruiting environment
