People and Culture branch looking for multiple HR Advisers on a 6 month contract.

Your new company
This large government department delivers Australian Government policies and programs to ensure Australians can experience the social wellbeing and economic benefits that quality education, training and employment provides.

Your new role
As the APS6 HR Advisor, you will be working in the People and Culture team who are responsible for the departments operational and strategic HR functions, providing workforce strategies, HR management enabling services, employee capability development and work metrics. This branch is driven and strives to deliver cultural and diversity aspirations to the department.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the workflow associated with the People Mailbox and People phone line
  • Provide specialist industrial relations advice to employees for more complex or sensitive enquiries
  • Prepare or check maternity leave schedules, draft or check voluntary redundancy calculations
  • Authorise payments for paid parental leave
  • Coordinate the review of fortnightly pay exception reports, identify SAP system issues that may need rectification
  • Train and support APS 4 and 5 employees
  • Develop SOP documentation where required

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role you will have strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience of industrial relations legislation and payroll services as well as strong stakeholder management skills. Prior experience managing and mentoring junior staff is essential.

Experience in a payroll team with demonstrated experience in the use of SAP is highly advantageous.

To be considered for this role, you must be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a baseline security clearance or higher.
