A permanent opportunity for an experienced HR and WHS manager to join a local company

Your new company
Our client is currently sourcing an experienced HR and WHS Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This exciting opportunity will see you supporting an industry leader within the trades and labour market

Your new role
Based in Darwin and reporting to the Senior Management, this operational based role will see you support the business in all aspects of HR and WHS. You will be a crucial part of the management team and will enjoy taking a hands-on approach. Key duties are listed below, however, this role will see you as a team player and will support all areas of the business when needed:

Human Resources

  • Management of all recruitment needs including advertising, shortlisting, referencing, compliance and on-boarding
  • Working in partnership with the finance team, subject expert on pay conditions, over time, shift workers etc
  • Support of apprentice programs including stakeholder management of universities, apprenticeship boards and respected bodies
  • Daily management and advisory of all staff and line management to ensure that they are aware of their respected duties, code of conduct, performance standards and best practice working in accordance to the company's enterprise agreement
  • Update and maintenance of employee database, handbook including all policy and procedures
  • Management of probationary reviews and continued performance management of the workforce including preparing reports and providing guidance to the continued management of staff members
  • Point of contact for all staff in response to any complaints, queries and performance / development needs
  • Organise and track any training requirements within the company
  • Research, advise and mediate the resolutions of industrial issues as and if they arise

Work Health and Safety

  • Assist in the management and collection of all documents in relation to annual accreditation reviews and oversee all audits and risk assessment activities
  • Preparation and maintenance of all WHS documents to ensure the are aligned with current legislation
  • Management and maintenance of all staff inductions, tickets, licences, white cards, police checks and other compliance needs
  • Management of the company's injury report and action items and support of return to work initiatives

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for this role you must be able to demonstrate previous experience working as a HR Manager or HR Generalist. You will have strong experience working within a blue-collar environment and enjoy roles that are hands on and people orientated. You will be up to date and current with HR and WHS legislation and enjoy taking a proactive approach to continues knowledge and development in this area. A team player, you will be a person who enjoys supporting their colleagues across all aspects of the business and takes pride in the continued engagement and support to a dedicated workforce. You will be a positive leader and mentor, have strong communication skills and be systems savvy
