Senior Payroll Officer - Contract

This Queensland based organization has been providing support, advice and regulations to the community for over 30 years. They are renowned for their customer service excellence and ongoing support to the community. Based in the inner Brisbane suburbs, they have a great culture and supportive team environment.

In this temporary position, you will have a sufficient hand over on both ends of the assignment. We are seeking a seasoned Senior Payroll Officer to lead the fortnightly payroll service and HR information systems for the organization.

  • Oversee fortnightly payroll processes including any relevant reporting;
  • Ensure each pay run is calculated and processed accurately (in accordance with Award and Certified Agreement terms and conditions of employment) and deadlines are met, including one-off and separation payments;
  • Responsible for the coordination efforts between payroll, human resources, budget and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g. overtime, leave balances, head count, and super contribution reports);
  • Provide guidance and coaching to payroll officers to ensure HR administrative functions are undertaken
  • Provide a wide range of payroll and HRIS reporting in strict timeframes to the management team
  • Support the Head of HR with projects and initiatives as required
  • Ensure adherence to legislative requirements regarding payroll tax, Superannuation and WorkCover.

To be successful in this role you will have contemporary knowledge of payroll practices including superannuation and payroll tax. A strong knowledge of accounting principals, Award interpretation and providing payroll advice to stakeholders will be imperative to your success. Demonstrable understanding of current legal and industrial relations framework and be proficient in the use of payroll database systems and HRIS.
