Overview

Our client, a prominent public sector organisation dedicated to serving a vibrant, naturally rich community in South-East Queensland, is seeking a highly skilled People and Culture Business Partner for a 3-month contract.

This is a pivotal role within the Corporate Services team, specifically within the People and Culture branch, where you will act as a key strategic partner to leaders and employees. You will be instrumental in shaping a high-performing culture, providing expert advice across the entire employee lifecycle, and ensuring best practice aligned with core organisational values.

Key Responsibilities

Working collaboratively with leaders and the People and Culture team, your portfolio will include, but not be limited to:

  • Strategic Business Partnering: Actively build strong relationships with internal customers to enhance their capability as people leaders and foster a collaborative approach to build high-performing teams.
  • Expert Advice and Guidance: Provide expert counsel on the full range of HR matters, including industrial and employee relations, employee engagement, workforce planning (including succession planning), talent attraction/retention, and change management.
  • Case Management & Investigations: Lead internal investigations on employment-related matters, and case manage and mediate workplace grievances, disputes, and disciplinary issues.
  • Leader Coaching & Development: Offer high-level support, advice, and coaching to leaders to resolve difficult people issues and grow their capacity to effectively fulfil their people leadership responsibilities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including relevant unions and industry bodies.
About you

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:

  • Significant demonstrated experience as a HR practitioner developing and delivering contemporary human resource management practices, policies, and programs across the employee life cycle within a diverse organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide specialist HR advice and process facilitation to diverse client groups.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of employment legislation, industrial awards, and agreements.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with a proven ability to manage sensitive people issues.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills, with a strong focus on quality customer service.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Essential: A tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management or equivalent.
  • Essential: A "C" class Driver's Licence.
  • Desirable: Post Graduate qualifications in Psychology, Business, or Human Resources
