Lead complex, organisation-wide change across a major transformation program

Your new organisation

This complex Commonwealth organisation is entering a significant period of transformation, with multiple concurrent and interdependent initiatives underway. It requires an experienced Organisational Change Manager to help leaders navigate the scale, pace and impact of change across the organisation.

Your new role
As the Organisational Change Manager, you will develop a whole-of-organisation view of the current change landscape, including organisational readiness, cultural and leadership considerations, interdependencies, risks and resource constraints.
Working closely with senior executives, leaders and geographically dispersed stakeholders, you will develop an integrated and adaptive approach to managing change across overlapping initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Assessing organisational readiness and the cumulative impact of concurrent change
  • Identifying interdependencies, sequencing requirements, risks and pressure points
  • Providing practical and strategic advice to senior executives
  • Developing an integrated transition plan
  • Establishing a coordinated change communication and stakeholder engagement approach
  • Facilitating collaboration and dialogue across diverse work areas
  • Monitoring change impacts and providing integrated executive reporting
  • Building leadership capability and confidence to lead and sustain change
  • Supporting the implementation of the transition plan across the organisation
Key deliverables will include a comprehensive situational report covering the organisation's operating environment, change drivers, culture, leadership, workforce implications, capability requirements and current and planned initiatives. You will then develop an adaptive transition plan addressing sequencing, dependencies, risks, communication and long-term organisational capability.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a highly experienced Organisational Change Manager with:
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale organisational change within the Australian Public Service
  • Experience working across complex operating environments and concurrent change initiatives
  • Strong organisational readiness, transition planning and change impact assessment capability
  • The ability to influence and advise senior executives and leaders
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and communication skills
  • Experience navigating cultural change, uncertainty and competing priorities
  • A track record of building sustainable leadership and organisational change capability
  • Relevant change management experience, skills and qualifications
  • A current Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
What you'll get in return
You'll join a highly visible and meaningful organisation-wide transformation program and receive:
  • A competitive daily rate
  • An initial contract commencing in mid-November 2026 through to 30 June 2027
  • Two potential extensions of up to six months each
  • A 40-hour working week
  • Location options across Australian capital cities, excluding Darwin
  • Flexible working arrangements by agreement
  • Occasional travel to Tasmania, with flights and accommodation arranged by the organisation.
