Your new company
A forward-thinking local government authority in Tasmania's West Coast region is seeking immediate support within its workplace health and safety function. This organisation is committed to fostering a safe and engaged workforce and is currently in the process of recruiting for a permanent WHS Coordinator. In the interim, they require a skilled professional to begin implementing a recently developed roadmap of safety recommendations.
Your new role
This 2-3 month contract offers a high level of flexibility and autonomy. You will be responsible for initiating WHS improvements across operational sites and reactivating the Health and Safety Committee. The role involves reviewing existing documentation, developing action plans, and engaging with staff to build strong working relationships.
You will be expected to work independently and contribute strategically to the organisation's safety culture. On-site presence is required only once or twice per fortnight, with remote work supported for the remainder of your engagement. Accommodation is available for overnight stays during site visits.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate broad WHS expertise and a confident, proactive approach. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly are essential. You should be comfortable reviewing reports, leading initiatives, and driving change with minimal supervision. The organisation is looking for someone who can start quickly and make an immediate impact.
What you'll get in return
You will benefit from flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a community-focused organisation. Accommodation support is provided for site visits, and you will be working with a team that values collaboration and continuous improvement.
What you need to do now
If you're interested in this opportunity, please email your most up-to-date resume and I will share some further information about the role with you before you formally apply.
