Maroondah City Council is seeking to attract an experienced, highly motivated and outcome focused HR professional to join our People and Culture (P&C) team.  Candidates should note that Council facilitates appropriate opportunities for workplace flexibility.

The primary focus of this role will be to:

  • Provide timely, effective and valued generalist HR advice and support to client groups, in areas such as Employee and Industrial Relations, Recruitment and Selection, and Job Analysis and Design, as well as assisting your client groups in areas such Learning and Organisation Development, Volunteers and Placements, Injury Management and OH&S, in consultation with P&C team members who specialise in these areas;
  • Establish credible and effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Actively participate in HR related projects and ensure successful implementation, improvement and maintenance of contemporary HR related systems, policies, procedures, programs and practices that meet changing legislative requirements and the needs of the organisation;
  • Assist in safeguarding Council and its employees by ensuring organisational compliance with relevant industrial instruments / legislation.

The successful applicant will ideally possess:

  • Significant generalist HR experience across the full suite of HR functions, with particular emphasis on Generalist Advice, Employee Relations, Job Analysis & Design and Recruitment, Selection & Onboarding;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a track record of establishing, developing and maintaining effective professional working relationships;
  • The proven ability to accurately identify, interpret and apply relevant legislation;
  • Professional attributes aligned with Council’s workplace values and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team to achieve team and organisational objectives
  • Experience with HR Management, Recruitment and/or Learning Management systems and in delivering HR related projects
  • Relevant HR related qualifications
