An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and embed a strong safety culture within a purpose-driven organisation operating across Sydney. This is a pivotal leadership role, combining both strategic oversight and hands-on delivery of work health and safety (WHS) frameworks, systems and initiatives across a diverse operational environment.

Your new role

Reporting into the People & Culture function, you will take ownership of the organisation's WHS strategy, systems and compliance.
You will:
  • Lead and drive a proactive, organisation-wide safety culture
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve the WHS Management System
  • Oversee incident management, investigations and root cause analysis
  • Manage workers compensation and return-to-work programs
  • Ensure compliance with NSW WHS legislation and ISO accreditation requirements
  • Lead risk assessments, hazard identification and mitigation strategies
  • Drive initiatives around psychosocial safety, wellbeing and mental health
  • Deliver WHS training and build capability across the business
  • Provide expert WHS advice to senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Oversee emergency management and critical incident planning

What you'll need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS (minimum Graduate Diploma or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety leadership role within a complex environment (5+ years)
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, compliance and risk management frameworks
  • Demonstrated expertise in incident management, workers compensation and psychosocial risk
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • A hands-on, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
