This opportunity sits within a large Queensland State Government organisation operating in a commercial, construction‑focused environment.

Your new role

You will lead a statewide Workforce & Capability function, providing strategic direction and hands‑on leadership across human resources, industrial relations, performance management and capability development.

Reporting to a senior people leader, you will partner closely with executive stakeholders to manage workforce risk, resolve complex employee and industrial matters, and deliver key priorities including enterprise agreement outcomes, succession planning and entry‑level pathways.

A key focus of the role will be ensuring continuity of knowledge and supporting a planned leadership transition, while driving consistent, high‑quality workforce practices across a geographically dispersed team.

What you'll need to succeed

You are an experienced HR/Workforce leader, ideally with a background in government or similarly complex environments, and bring strong generalist expertise spanning HR operations, industrial relations, case management and organisational capability.

You are confident navigating complex awards and agreements across blue‑ and white‑collar workforces, comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, and known for your ability to manage sensitive matters with sound judgement.

Strong communication skills, resilience under pressure and a practical, solutions‑focused mindset will be critical to success in this role.
