Your new company

A metropolitan local government organisation serving a diverse community across multiple neighbourhoods. With a large, multi‑site workforce delivering a broad portfolio of public services - from frontline operations to cultural and community programs. The organisation is modernising its People & Culture function to better support leaders, employees and the community.
The HR & Payroll function is sizeable and committed to strategic partnering, continuous improvement and building a positive, performance‑oriented culture.

Your new role

Your new role will be the Manager, HR Business Partnering to lead and uplift the HRBP capability and operating model. Reporting to the Executive Manager, People & Culture, this role will shape a proactive, consultative partnering approach, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and guide leaders through organisational change, IR/ER matters and workforce initiatives.

-Lead, coach and develop the HRBP team; establish standards, rhythms and a consultative partnering model.
-Modernise and simplify HR policies, procedures, governance and frameworks to ensure clarity, compliance and consistency.
-Be present across sites; build trusted relationships with leaders and teams; establish credibility and influence.
-Oversee case management, ER/IR and union engagement, ensuring early, consistent and constructive resolution.
-Pivot from reactive to proactive partnering - anticipate scenarios, model outcomes, and advise leaders on culture, organisation design and change implementation.
-Support EBA planning and negotiations alongside the Executive Manager P&C, aligning to sector frameworks and best practice.

What you'll need to succeed

Team coaching & leadership experience-uplifting junior HRBPs and embedding service excellence.
Strong stakeholder engagement-able to navigate diverse operational settings with credibility and influence.
Deep IR/ER capability-award interpretation, case management, union engagement, and exposure to EBA processes.
Sector background: Local Government experience is ideal (not essential). Cross‑industry exposure is valued for fresh thinking.
Comfort balancing strategic advisory with hands‑on delivery in a complex, multi‑site environment.
